I just committed some changes to get the colors to work.  You will also 
need to change the config file.  Look for the lines that set the colors 
like this:

    <obj class="gov.usgs.gr.visual.gl.PageOfGlGraphs"

    <obj class="gov.usgs.gr.visual.gl.GlGraph" frameColor="(0,0,20)"

And add the Java2D equivalent right below:

I'll look at the zoom problem next.



Since fixing the colors, I'm actually having trouble duplicating the zoom 
problem, which I suppose is a good thing.  One of my fixes for the colors 
may have helped in the zoom department also.  Test it out and let me know 
if you can still recreate the issue.

There are still quite a few improvements needed to the Java2D version, but 
you may be able to get on your feet with this version.

I'll take my laptop home and try to check email over the next few days.
